Cotton Says Trump Wants DACA Deal To Include Limits On Chain Migration

Sen. Tom Cotton says President Donald Trump has personally assured him there is no deal between the White House and top Democratic lawmakers on an amnesty for illegal immigrants who arrived in the U.S. as children.

In an interview broadcast Sunday on NBC’s “Meet The Press,” the Arkansas Republican said Trump wants to ensure any agreement to codify the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program includes protections for American workers.

“You know, I think the president has said publicly that there’s not a deal, that he wants to see a deal,” Cotton told MTP host Chuck Todd, referring to reports about a possible deal between the White House and Democratic leaders.

  1. Ann Coulter and Pat Buchanan don't like Trump's latest considerations on immigration.

I fear he's fleeing the racist label post-Charlottesville. And the truth is, nothing he does will ever rid him of that label. He ran as a Republican, and that label is going to follow him just as it follows every Republican.

The movement that could have won nonwhites over would have included a reduced foreign policy and greater infrastructure spending. I don't mean to beat a dead horse, but that was key to winning a wider populist movement. He still could achieve a lot though of course.

Trump could achieve more if he could talk more about what he'd like to do. If Congress shoots him down when trying to pass infrastructure, he could rally populists against Congress. You don't win Congress over with pretty words. Congress cares about money and reelection, nothing else.

Anyway, Trump is new to politics, so he can get played on immigration and other issues. We saw with his comments on abortion that there are topics Trump really doesn't know well. I wish he would choose better advisers. He seems to have unknowingly chosen people who hate him, which is very strange.

  2. Cotton is promoting the "Raise" act which is really a requirement before they even talk about DACA. Add E verify and then work at removing about 10 million more illegals. indyjonesouthere
